Peering through slits of fleeting happiness
Only glimpses of that, to be sure
Almost always a struggle
To stay afloat
Above all the thoughts
That are such keen visitors
Their enthusiasm infectious
Like the relentless hands that forces you underwater
The thoughts persists
Their enthusiasm, infectious
Sometimes it's a friend
Sometimes a sly stranger
But always hovering
Smothering all good thoughts
Till I fear they are lost forever
But the search never ends
The struggle never ceases
And falter will I never
Something guides along
Though I sometimes am not aware of it
Never leaving my side
Pulling me up every time I'm pulled under
Funny how I'm always aware of the other
Always acknowledging
Almost like a friend, it's welcomed
But friends don't smother, don't hurt
I shall keep up the struggle
Through the fleeting happiness
A relentless struggle
Just to keep afloat
