As I hear it...

The melody is the one that comes
From the church organ
Deep from the heart of the bride
Taking graceful steps
In the arms of a proud father
Down the flowered aisle
Towards the waiting, nervous
Happy groom

It is the lively beat
That commands and rises
In all the glory and pride of marching battalions
Coupled with cheers along the streets
Of convicted hope...

It is the one...
That dawns gaily on you
Like the glow of happiness on the face of a child
Tugging a first candy
Like a baby at a mother's bosom...
Asleep...his face, a serenity
Not of a mask
But of one that's felt truly
Envied by grown-ups
Too ignorant
To stop and listen..

Listen to the music
Like a water spider tapping, gliding on a lake
Alighting so very softly
Along with that unheard rhythm
Blanketing awe, peace
Upon its revellers
Stirring emotions deep within
In places thought devoid of
On a ferris wheel ride of joy, sorrow
And amazement

Drawing a smile
Like tomorrow was never there
And you think
What better can any day be...

Of Love and Lovers

"Love at first sight"
Things declared about it,
Are never close to sight,
Till the one lits the light..

Love promises and coaxes,
Of joy, fulfillment and passion,
Never speaks of hoaxes,
So much so that lovers shun cession...

Lovers make fear an enmity,
For with love, comes great courage,
Great conviction, also a naivety,
That to lovers is a relished adage...

Deep inside every lover,
There sleeps the insecurity,
Of the love threatening to waver,
Something to pollute their sweet purity...

We know what they say,
All good things come to an end,
But lovers say,
"Love lives past any end"

Ahh :)

You know, I used to think that I could claim to be a poet only if I wrote like those 18-century (or earlier..) dudes and dudettes.

But then i stumbled upon this book of poems in Mr Mano's, a lecturer in the college I go to, office. I was flipping through it and..it took me at least a week to finally admit that the stuff I was reading were poems..hmm.. :)

I borrowed the book, and about a week and a half later, I returned it after jotting some of them into my journal. Intended to copy the whole book la actually..but well, EXAMS okeh..this was therefore, very da unnecessary..Anyways, Mr Mano lent me another book :) MUCH to my delight~~

Here's one poem that caught my eye:

It's Up To You...

This life is the only one
you're given.

Look for opportunities to grow.
and never be discouraged
in your efforts to do so.

Replace your weaknesses
with positives;
take life's broken pieces
and recreate your dreams.

Never measure the future
by the past;
let yesterday become a memory
and tomorrow a promise.

Begin each day by focusing
on all that is good,
and you'll be in a position
to handle whatever comes along .

Take responsibility for
your actions;
never make excuses
for not being the best
you can be.

If you should slip,
be comforted by the thought
that we all do at times.

Determine your tomorrow
by the choices you make today,
and you'll find yourself living
in joy and triumph.

Musings

Bubbly, bubbly, bubbly,
Three chants of the word
Almost entices one to feel so
With a light click of the tongue...
I say, "Almost."
Alas, the opposite is much mightier,
Much overwhelming.

Sigh, goes the heart
Ah! Goes the mind
One yearns, the other pushes the damning thought
Away, away, away....

Three chants again...
Would it work some magic?
Any, if I were to attempt as much as to hope?

It is not moroseness I feel...not hopelessness
Not insecurity, even
Though the last may be a folly of truth

This, my dear
Is..
With a smile of an accomplice
Who speaks soundless thinkings,
I say...
"O, you must know.."

To all friends lost...

Friends who could have been
For reasons misunderstood

Or simply lost...

Tear brims on the edge
But never spills

Heart, passions, desires
All hardened into

Reason, aims, needs

Is it all worth rediscovery..
When it is just as hard to move on...

Things said and done
Whomever the witnesses were...

Comprehension would still fail you...

And it vexes me so...
